Keeping the history. Building the future.
August 13, 2025Crewe FC is excited to announce that Crewe Corinthians AFC will now operate under the new name Crewe FC Corinthians, ensuring the preservation of the club’s rich history while giving it a sustainable future.
The Corinthians, a club with a long and respected tradition in local football, have faced increasing challenges in recent years as the realities of sustaining grassroots teams have become more difficult. By joining Crewe FC, the Corinthians name and legacy will be safeguarded—Crewe FC will become the official custodians of the ‘Corinthians’ moniker.
Under the new arrangement, Crewe FC Corinthians will have a secure home within the Crewe FC structure and will compete in the Chester & Wirral Veterans League for the 2025 season. It will also ensure that the ‘Corinthians’ identity & history remains alive for current and future generations.
Steve Parker, Chairman of Crewe FC, said:
"Crewe Corinthians have always been a respected and valued part of our local football community. We’re glad we can help ensure their history continues while also giving them the structure and support needed to thrive in modern grassroots football. This is about protecting tradition while building for the future.”
Gary Clarke, Manager of Crewe Corinthians AFC, added:
“Crewe Corinthians are truly appreciative of this move—it ensures the foundations of the club remain strong and that veterans football continues within our community. We’d like to thank Steve personally, and everyone at Crewe FC, for embracing us and making us part of the Crewe FC family. We look forward to playing our football and hopefully bringing some Vets trophies back to Crewe FC . . . ”
This move strengthens Crewe FC’s commitment to supporting all levels of the game in the area, from youth development to veterans football, while preserving the identity and heritage of one of Crewe’s most storied grassroots teams.
