This weekend saw 32 Teams & over 350 players take part in Crewe FC’s annual Girls ‘Kindertons Cup’. The competition, officiated for the first time this year by all female referees, saw 180 matches played, over 500 goals scored, 280 medals & 10 Trophies handed out across 5 age groups! Steve Harding, Girls Football Development Coordinator at Crewe FC was delighted with how the tournament went; “This years competition was a huge success. To see so many girls involved in our tournament, almost double from last year, shows the continued growth & development of the female game locally and it’s something that, as a club, we are fully committed to supporting. On behalf of the Club, I like to express our thanks to all the teams that took part, to the referees that helped the competition run so smoothly & to the Cheshire FA for supporting the event. Finally, we have to thank the army of Crewe FC Volunteers that gave up their time to help run the event and our main club sponsor Kindertons Accident Management for supporting the club so well”.
