Crewe FC is delighted to announce that we have been awarded the FA’s Club of the Year Award for 2018. As part of the FA’s Grassroots Football Awards, the Club has not only been formally recognised for its development, but for the active role it plays within the local community. The Cheshire FA, who will host an awards night in July, released this statement along with the announcement as to why Crewe FC have been given such a prestigious award; “Crewe FC have grown extraordinarily over the past 2 years, offering football coaching and playing opportunities to over 400 children within the local community as well as progressing to Charter Standard Community Status. They have progressed over 40 children into professional football academies and also arranged for several of their junior & girls teams to compete in international grassroots football tournaments. They support 35 qualified coaches, over 50 unpaid volunteers & work tirelessly to grow and promote the Club, benefitting local charities and the local community. They are continually involved in community projects and go above and beyond the expectations of a grassroots Community Club. In the past 12 months, they have raised close to £10,000 for local charities & community groups. They offer a free football provision to the local community for 5-7 year olds which is regularly attended by over 40 children each weeks & have established a Wildcats Centre to promote, develop and encourage girls participation in football. They have also set up a Futsal League. The Club continually promotes diversity, disability and equal opportunity, encouraging all children and young adults to achieve their full potential”. Steve Parker, Chairman at Crewe FC, was delighted with the award; “It’s a fantastic recognition of all the hard work and dedication that goes on at Crewe FC to make it a truly outstanding Community Club. Each and every person connected with the club has played a part in the progress we have made, particularly over the past 12-18months and they should feel a great sense of pride in what we are collectively achieving. We also have to thank Kindertons, our main Club sponsor, as the progress we are making wouldn’t have been achievable without their support. In addition to that, our main Community Partners Everybody Leisure, Crewe Town Council, Area 51 & McDonalds have also played pivotal roles in helping us progress both on and off the field & we look forward to their continued support as we move forward over the next few years”. A fantastic achievement. Well done to all involved. #TogetherStronger #ClubOfTheYear
