Crewe FC, along with our main Club sponsor Kindertons, are delighted to be donating over 200 items of Crewe FC kit, boots and other football garments to the Raptim FC Academy in Gambia this Christmas. All items, donated primarily by our Junior & Senior Teams will be distributed to those less fortunate, where poverty and struggle is part of their daily life. The campaign to support the Raptim Academy is led by Walé Adekunbi, an FA qualified & licensed coach, who travels voluntarily & self funded to the Serrukunda region of Gambia each Christmas to deliver a football camp to children aged between 7-19. The ‘Changing Lives Through Football’ project helps to engage children in team sports, building their social skills & confidence in the process, all whilst enjoying the beautiful game! Danny Massey, Crewe FC’s Football Development Officer, was delighted with the response from everyone at the club and had this to say; “It’s a wonderful cause and a brilliant response from the Club to support it. I’ve spent some time talking to Walé and we are all inspired by his desire and passion to support those in a less fortunate position than ourselves. I’m delighted we are able to contribute the way we have and I hope this can become a yearly activity for the Club to support”. Danny & Walé were joined by a host of Crewe FC Junior players in handing over the football items, with one of our rising stars Ashden Gibson, clearly impressed with the efforts of his teammates; “There’s so much stuff! I’ve donated some of my old kit and boots. I hope whoever gets them scores more goals in them than I have”. You can read more about the Raptim Academy, Walé’s story and even donate to the ‘Changing Lives Through Football’ initiative he’s set up here; We genuinely hope it makes a difference & we look forward to continuing to support this fantastic cause over the coming years. #TogetherStronger
